Defibrillator Training - Made Simple

Course description

The perfect add-on to complement your Adopt-A-Defib purchase. This course is suitable for individuals, companies and organisations to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to defibrillate a casualty in an emergency situation and provide CPR. This includes advanced techniques for management of the administration of a semi and fully automated external defibrillator (AED) in line with the requirements of the Australian Resuscitation Council and State and Territory regulatory bodies. This training also involves working with personnel who are engaged in the resuscitation of the casualty. A suitable course for workplaces to undertake when there is a defibrillator supplied on their premises.

Course duration

Option 1: Nationally recognised course:

  • Face to face, half day (4 hour delivery)


Option 2: Non-accredited workshop:

  • Face to face workshop (3 hour delivery)

Course content

  • Management of an unconscious casualty

  • Resuscitation techniques including HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation 

  • Attach and operate defibrillation equipment

  • Safe procedure and effective use of an automated external defibrillator

  • Recover and restore equipment

  • Check defibrillation equipment


Minimum age for participants is 14 years. It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor (not required for workshop).

Materials provided

A quality first aid manual and a FREE CPR keyring resuscitation face mask. A coloured certificate with a coloured hard plastic wallet card, replica of the certificate. An emailed copy of your certificate when competent and a web based verification system to authenticate your award. The use of quality, hygienic adult, junior & infant manikins and training Defibrillators. Up to date first aid material, PowerPoint presentation, DVDs.

Certificate validity

Certificate for the accredited course is valid for 12 months as per industry standard. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommend a refresher course every 12 months for the content of HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This ensures currency of resuscitation skills and knowledge of equipment.

Option 2: Non-accredited workshop: This can be offered as a non-accredited workshop saving your group money and time. $975 our group rate is capped at 15 participants. 



In the face to face portion of the training you are taught how to use an AED and provide CPR with confidence. Training You First Aid conducts progressive scenario and theory based assessments throughout the course.  



The nationally recognised course (option 1) includes and exceeds the requirements of HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This statement of attainment is nationally recognised throughout Australia.
