This unit covers the competency required to minimise further injury to a casualty when applying first aid and waiting for emergency medical aid.
The application of this unit in the workplace covers recognition and management of suspected spinal injuries.
The unit is typically relevant for personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations which provide a first aid service in an environment where there is a risk of spinal injuries.
Face to face workshop, one day (7 hours delivery), theory and practical instruction.
Minimum age for participants is 14 years.
A current certificate in; HLTFA301B/C Apply First Aid or
HLTFA201B Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
(You will be required to bring the certificate to your face to face training as evidence to enrol into this course)
A quality first aid manual. A coloured certificate with a coloured hard plastic wallet card, replica of the certificate. An emailed copy of your certificate when competent and a web based verification system to authenticate your award. The use of quality cervical collars, scoop stretchers, spine boards and strapping, stokes baskets and training props. Up to date first aid material, PowerPoint presentation, DVDs.

Certificate valid for 3 years as per industry standard.

Training You First Aid conducts progressive assessment throughout the course including practical demonstrations linked with a multiple choice and written assessment. Due to the practical components of the course participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
This statement of attainment is nationally recognised and workplace approved throughout Australia.
