On 1 January 2012, the ‘National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care' began. It is being introduced across Australia to help children have the best possible start in life. Under the Education and Care Services National Law ACECQA must publish lists of approved qualifications, including a list of approved First Aid qualifications; Apply First Aid, Perform CPR, Anaphylaxis Management training and Emergency Asthma Management training.

This combined course includes 4 units from ACECQA approved list and is designed to comply with new Childcare first aid regulations. 


Course description


HLTFA311A - Apply First Aid (includes HLTCPR211A Perform CPR), is a contemporary course which provides participants with the knowledge and skill to confidently recognise and respond effectively and safely to an emergency situation requiring first aid. This is the advised minimum requirement by Workplace Health & Safety Legislation for the workplace first aider.

22099VIC - Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis teaches you to recognise and assist a person suffering an anaphylactic reaction until the arrival of medical assistance. 
 
22024VIC - Course in Emergency Management of Asthma in the Workplace  The purpose of this course is to provide an awareness of Asthma, the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver reliever medication in an Asthma attack and hold blue reliever medication in a first aid kit for Asthma emergencies. 

 

Course duration 

Option 1, Flexible Learning:

  • Self-study with online eLearning workbooks prior to face to face workshop

  • Face to face workshop, one day (8 hours delivery for all 4 accreditations)

Option 2: Recertification:

  • Face to face workshop, one day (8 hours delivery, an online eLearning workbook is required only for the Anaphylaxis & Asthma accreditations)

Option 3: Childcare combined Anaphylaxis 22099VICAsthma 22024VIC:

The combined accredited Anaphylaxis and Asthma skills set course; 

  • Flexible learning, self study with an online eLearning Anaphylaxis and Asthma combined workbook prior to face to face workshop

  • Face to face workshop (3 hours delivery), combined course reduced cost ranging from $80 - $90 per participant.

  • HLTCPR211A Perform CPR can be included at an additional reduced cost, see course cost recertification of these three accreditations can be completed face to face in a 6 hours delivery.

Prerequisites

Minimum age for participants is 14 years. A current Apply First Aid certificate is needed for a recertification course. For Perform CPR a current HLTCPR201B/211A certificate is needed for a recertification course. To be awarded the combined Anaphylaxis & Asthma skills set, completion of the online eLearning workbook is required and evidence given to the trainer.


Materials provided

A quality first aid manual, an Anaphylaxis chart card. A coloured certificate with a coloured hard plastic wallet card, replica of the certificate. An emailed copy of your certificate when competent and a web based verification system to authenticate your award. The use of auto-injector trainers, the use of training reliever medication (bronchodilator) with small & large volume spacers & masks. Quality, hygienic adult, junior & infant manikins, bandages, training props and defibrillator. For the flexible learning option, a self-paced online workbook is provided. Up to date first aid material, PowerPoint presentation, DVDs.

 

Classes

GROUP BOOKINGS ONLY. We come to you, conducted onsite. We cannot register individual participants. So get a group together, contact others in your industry, clubs, similar groups, friends and family. Please refer to the contact us section of the website for details.


Certificate validity

Certificates valid for 3 years as per industry standard. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends the HLTCPR211A Perform CPR component is refreshed every 12 months.

Ranging from $80 - $90 per participant for the combined Anaphylaxis & Asthma (ranging from $180 - $190 per participant if adding Apply First Aid) CLICK HERE for further details on course costs. Our courses may be eligible for rebates with major health funds. Health Fund Rebate please check with your health fund for rebate and cover eligibility.
 

We also offer a non-accredited Anaphylaxis & Asthma workshop (3 hours) at a reduced cost, covering the same course content (no pre-course workbook required). Excellent refresher training that can be delivered during the 3 year validity of current certificates. 

 

Assessment

Training You First Aid conducts progressive assessment throughout the course including practical demonstrations linked with a multiple choice assessment. Individual practical assessment of competency in the use of auto-injectors (e.g. EpiPen®/Anapen®). Individual practical assessment of competency in the delivery of reliever medication (bronchodilator) with spacer & mask. Due to the practical components of the course participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
 

Accreditation

These statement of attainments are nationally recognised and workplace approved throughout Australia. They are listed on ACECQA’s published list of approved first aid qualifications.
